Lagos state sentenced 32 out of the 52 arrested S** Workers To Jail


  • The Special Offences Court at
  • Alausa, Ikeja, Southwest Nigeria,
  • on Tuesday sentenced 32 s**
  • workers to four months
  • imprisonment for engaging in
  • acts inimical to public peace and
  • safety.
  • The 32 s*** workers were
  • among the 52 arrested by the
  • Lagos State Taskforce on
  • Environmental and Special
  • Offences (Enforcement) Unit last
  • Wednesday at Toyin Street and
  • Isaac John areas of Ikeja.
  • The remaining 20 others will be
  • arraigned in court soon and
  • may face similar fate that befell
  • their colleagues.read more
  • The s** workers were
  • convicted on a three-count
  • charge and sentenced according
  • to the gravity of each of the
  • charges.
  • The Attorney General of Lagos
  • State stands as the prosecutor.
  • The first count charge reads:
  • “That you, the above named
  • defendants on 2nd day of
  • August, 2012 between 12.01 am
  • and 12:30 am at Toyin
  • Roundabout, Opebi, in Ikeja
  • being disorderly persons placed
  • yourselves on the road for
  • illegal purpose to wit an offence
  • contrary to section 166 (I) (h)
  • Criminal Law 2011 and
  • punishable under section 162 (2)
  • of the same law.”
  • The s** workers were
  • convicted on this count charge
  • and sentenced to two months
  • imprisonment without an option
  • of fine.
  • The second count charge reads:
  • “That “you, the above named
  • defendants on the 2nd day of
  • August, 2012 between 12:01 am
  • and 12:30 am at Toyin
  • Roundabout, Opebi in Ikeja
  • conducted yourselves in a
  • manner likely to cause a breach
  • of peace and committed an
  • offence contrary to section 166
  • (I) (d) of the Criminal Law 2011
  • and punishable under section
  • 166 (2) of the same law.”
  • On this count charge, they
  • were sentenced to one month
  • imprisonment each with an
  • option of N10,000 fine each.
  • On the third count, the victims
  • were charged for unlawfully
  • obstructing Superintendent
  • Taiwo and committed an offence
  • punishable under section 27 of
  • the Environmental Sanitation
  • Law and sentenced to one
  • month imprisonment with an
  • option of N10, 000 fine each.
  • The 32 convicts were led to
  • Kirikiri Prison by the police and
  • prison officials after they were
  • sentenced
