TODAY TOP TRANSFER NEWS

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Manchester United have made a bid for Robin Van Persie but Arsenal are reluctant to let their star man move to Old Trafford. Van Persie has been offered the same £220,000 a week contract as current top earner Wayne Rooney. However, Arsenal will demand at least £5m more than the asking price to allow RVP move to United.
Liverpool have triggered a buy-out clause in Joe Allen’s contract after bidding £15m for the Welsh midfielder. Allen is expected to have talks at Anfield over the next 48 hours and it now seems inevitable that he will join former boss Rodgers at Liverpool.

It could be one in and one out at Anfield if Manchester City match Liverpool’s asking price of £22m and Adam Johnson on loan for Daniel Agger. Brendan Rodgers conformed that the defender would be allowed leave the club at the right price and City seem to be in pole position for his signature.
Manchester City are set to hijack Tottenham’s bid for Brazilian star Leandro Damiao. Spurs seemed to be ready to sign the striker after the Olympics but now City have signalled their intent as they look to further bolster their attacking options. However, if City do sign Damiao it could help Spurs in their pursuit of Emmanuel Adebayor.
