OSCAR ON THE BRINK

Oscar stands only 90 minutes away from a gold medal after his Brazil side booked an Olympic Final date against Mexico with a 3-0 win against South Korea at Old Trafford.

Romulo gave Mario Menez's side the lead shortly before half-time, and when Leandro Damiao netted a brace - taking his tournament tally to six - in the space of seven second-half minutes, Brazil's progressi
on was all but secured.

South Korea had started the better of the two teams and should have taken the lead inside 10 minutes when Kim Hyun-Sung missed a close-range header.

Slowly but surely, however, Brazil began to find their feet, and Damiao was denied twice in quick succession.

A goal was coming, and it was no surprise when our latest acquisition laid on the opener for Romulo after 37 minutes.READ MORE

Neymar instigated the move, finding Oscar just inside the Korea half, and after an intelligent diagonal run the 20-year-old found Romulo with an incisive pass, allowing the midfielder to fire Brazil into the lead.

The goal had come at a crucial time, and with their tails up Brazil doubled their advantage 12 minutes into the second half, the menacing Damiao smashing his strike into the back of the net from Marcelo's pass.

Sensing the game was there for the taking, Brazil poured forward at every opportunity, and five minutes later it was all over.

Unsurprisingly, both Oscar and Neymar were heavily involved in the build-up, and as the ball ran into the path of Damiao, the Internacional striker made no mistake.
